ATEX Ex-Zone 0 is an area in which, during normal operation, a potentially explosive atmosphere as a mixture of air and flammable gases, vapors or mists, is present for long periods or frequently.

ATEX Ex Zone 1 is an area in which, during normal operation, a potentially explosive atmosphere as a mixture of air and flammable gases, vapors or mists, is present occasionally or for short periods.

ATEX Zone 2 is an area in which, during normal operation, a potentially explosive atmosphere as a mixture of air and flammable gases, vapors or mists, is normally not present occasionally or only for short periods.

In the industry there are high requirements in terms of robustness of the used devices. High IP protection and wide temperature ranges and solid design is required.
